TURTLEING
Ascension Island is the most important nesting site in the Atlantic for the Green Turtle and between Dec - June every year, several thousand of these 200 - 250 kg turtles visit the 32 sandy beaches to lay their clutches of around 150 snooker ball size eggs in giant sand dug nests.
The Scouts & Cubs have been helping two research scientists, from The Darwin Initiative, this season with their studies, measuring turtles, counting nests etc.
