After almost two very hard years of fundraising, the 1st Ascension Island Scouts eventually took off for the UK on 5th August 2000. They will be in the UK for a one month visit to see our good friends, the Portstewart Scouts in Northern Ireland and to Baden Powell House, London.

The Scouts will be having lots of fun and adventure whilst they are away. But for some of them, who are as young as 11 years of age, it is their first time away from their parents and also Ascension Island. Ascension Island is 4,500 miles away from the UK so it is a very big step for all the Scouts who are so far away from 'home'. The Scout's itinerary is as follows:
