1st Ascension Island Scout Group

The Scout's Camp Site

The picture below shows the area known as the "Scout's Campsite". This is used by the Group for our frequent camping expeditions. The area is open to all the island and is used by the local population for private camps and picnics.

The climate is cooler than the rest of the island as it is 2000 feet above sea level and is located around the back of the main mountain on the Island - Green Mountain, which is 2817 feet above sea level.

The area is much greener (and wetter!) than the lower parts of the island and makes a refreshing change from the hot and dusty conditions which exist to the lower west of the island.
